Ride like the Euros and buy this rim brake bike at a smoking deal. I did some work for Chris King this summer and took a good deal on this NOS frame as part of my payment. At the time I really wanted a CX bike solely for gravel grinding in Pisgah and The Smokies, having transformed my Surly Crosscheck into a purpose built townie bike. I only had it long enough to put in a few good rides, talking 300 miles total of forest service roads. The bike is amazing, everything you would expect from Chris King and Cielo and a high quality steel bike. Spacing is perfect, surfaces are finished perfectly, and of course all CK components just assemble oh so easily. It built up easier and nicer than any other steel bike I have encountered.
It is a size XL with the paint scheme from 2 years ago, those unmistakable arrows everywhere. It was welded in early 2015 and painted that way per a customer request. That customer backed out so it sat in the factory for 6 months eventually receiving a paint blem on the NDS seat-stay (pictured). It has been framesaved and everything is as it should be. There is one other paint blem, it is on the fork and is pictured, must have happened after riding some freshly graded roads. Easily fixed with some white paint if you so desire. Some people prefer the patina.
What is included in the sale:
- The size XL frame - specs and geo chart here
- Painted to match Enve fork with tapered steerer tube
- Rasta Inset Headset with additional CK red and black spacers
- Paul Funky Monkey cable hanger
- Peace Sign brake cable yokes in red!!!
Some great features of this model:
- Fits 40mm tires with ease (WTB Nano on Belgium+ rims), loads of clearance for smaller tires and mud buildup come race day
- Threaded English bottom bracket, none of the new PF30 nonsense or expensive BB adapters required, just plug in Shimano, Sram, or Campy, and easily remove for service
- Rasta colors JAH BLESSED
- A great blend of stiffness and compliance for a size XL frame; I would say somewhere between my Columbus Spirit and Columbus Life tubing bikes
So the reason for selling is that ultimately the fit is not great for me. It is not a comfort thing as my setup now works well enough but it is not ideal. You can see by the cockpit position there is still a large amount of saddle to bar drop (saddle height 85cm, 110 0 deg X4 stem). I also thought this would be a bike for racing but it turns out I do not have the racing bug like I used to and am happy to settle for riding gravel roads in the woods all day with friends, something I can accomplish on a very budget build Soma Wolverine I have in the works. This bike sale will fund that while allowing me to put some money back in a savings account!!!. Finally I am moving in 2 weeks to a smaller place where having one less bike in the way will be nice. From 5 down to 4 ...
$1100 shipped takes it, includes PP fees and very meticulous packaging as if it came direct from CK. If you are close enough to Asheville, NC (2 hrs) and want to meet up halfway we can make that happen and I'll knock $100 off. If you want a package deal with the wheels, the "alloy ride" model from Chris King, which are of equally low use I would be open to it as they do match the Rasta theme after all .... Will also entertain offers for the entire bike as built currently. Let's talk about it.

Willing to do a package deal of frameset and wheelset for $2000 + shipping and PP fees. The wheels are Gold CK R45 hubs laced 28h 2x to HED Belgium+ rims, set up STan's tubeless and are new to the frame so equally low mileage (300 or so). That is $3500 worth of Made in America product for $2000!!!
Can you let me know how wide a tire you can fit in the frame?
Massive price drop, well under 50% off MSRP!!! Not too late.
Hi StokedRad, I'm in the UK, just barely europe these days, but I still ride with cantis! Has the bike gone and if not would you consider posting abroad?
