IronCross 2009 - 60 plus brutal miles in PA
www.yellowbreechesracing.org/ironcross/

Below are the results of this year's IronCross race. I've noted our Priority Health/Velo Club team's finish times. I'd be glad to hear of any other Michiganders who braved the punishment as well.

Click here: ironcrossrace.googlegroups.com/attach/5ffdb432ec6614cc/BYDIVISION.HTM?view=1&part=4&hl=en
for all the details, but basically it's a good replay of last year for our guys.

Categories are broken down into only four categories:
Sr. Men - up to 39 years old
Master's Men - 40+
Women
Singlespeed

Rich Stark came in 6th overall in the 40+ Master's Men category at 4:17:23 for a 14.5mph average.
Andy Weir was 19th overall in the Sr. Men category at 4:30:03 for a 13.8mph average.
Rodger Bowser was 25th overall in the Sr. Men category at 4:36:24 for a 13.5mph average.

Judging by the pictures at http://pbb.smugmug.com/Sports/Cycling/Iron-Cross-2009/9935359_qCu7y#677836262_hosRF
they all seemed very happy at the beginning. It looked like a beautiful day to suffer in the hills of Pennsylvania.

By the way, they did deduct time for Rich due to the blaring distraction of the orange hunting gloves. On the up side, he didn't get shot by any deluded hunters.

Monsters all,

Rob

Some other great results from Ohio were Tom Bruke finished 10th in the Elite men and Anne Schwartz 11th 2 days in a row in the Elite Women. I know there are more results just haven't found them on line.

Every Cx race in Mi. we are watching some of the top racers in the Country!

I'm definitely doing the Mad Anthony race, Detroit has a lot to offer if you know where to look. It would be cool if someone did an event one of these days at Frog Island/Riverside Park in Ypsilanti too. There are a lot of really great potential venues out there.

5 reasons to race at the Mad Anthony CX race on Saturday, October 17th at Historic Fort Wayne, Detroit:

5. SCHWAG – Every one who races will be given an entry to win either a Vassago Fisticuff CX frame or a Redline Conquest CX frame. The frames will be given away at the Oct 25th Lung Buster CX @ Maybury. You must be present to win.

Race winners all get empty growlers from Liberty Street Brewing Co in Plymouth. Head over there for a free fill up!

All race participants can take their race # into Liberty Street Brewing Co in Plymouth anytime the week after the race for a free pint!

4. Play in the city of Detroit – sure Motown is experiencing some tough times. The race is a perfect reason to get out and experience the city that has a ton to offer. If you haven’t done it lately, riding through the city, like Greektown, Belle Isle, Wayne State, etc, is a blast. Hit up a BeatTheTrain ride and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

3. Post race party at Los Galanes in Mexican-town – blue margaritas and great food, need I say more. Starts about ½ hour after the last race, but feel free to head over anytime.

2. CX Back-To-Back Weekends – For those in SE Michigan, if you’re racing the Tailwind series, you better get in at least one back-to-back weekend before the Vets Park weekend. Race Mad Anthony on Saturday and then race Lower Huron on Sunday. It will make you stronger and ready for Vets or event ICEMAN!

1. The FORT – this ain’t gonna be your usual CX race in the local park. The race will take place inside and around a de-commissoned Army fort that was built in 1845. When the course says “moat road” that truly is an old moat! It’s drained and now.

HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE RACE!!!

Michigan riders tore in up down in Ohio this weekend. Jeff Weinert 2 wins and a third. Mike Wissink a win and 2 seconds. Jeff, Mike a Tim Saari swept the podium today. Lots of Michigan riders and lots of great results.

Well look at us... We've got 34 members! When this started in Feb. we had like 5 or so. That's a big jump! Think we can hit 50 by the end of the season??

@Joe

I don't know Joe, I guess I see it from another pov... to me it looked like TJ cut off JP. Now, maybe b/c TJ was in the lead he may have "more of a right" to take whatever line he needed, but I think the move was a little too cutthroat. And maybe all the talk is right about TJ retaliating for any earlier move against a teammate. But hey... that's racin' - as they say.

Sounds like a great race...More night fun this weekend in Traverse City. Check out the Fall Fest Twilight Race at Timber Ridge..Should be a fun warm-up for the IceCross race in November after the Iceman...

IMHO, it looked like Wissink was able to just pull away from the rest of the A field at will. Coming through the S/F, he almost seemed to be soft-pedaling at times.

What'd everyone else see?
