Go Single Speed. Check out Bicycling.com's list of top trends: http://www.bicycling.com/bikes-gear/bikes-and-gear-features/future-... .
The first two trends involve Single Speed. Don't know anyone yet that uses the Gates Belt Drive, although it looks cool.

Got a noob question. I have a line on an old school Specialized M4 CX frame. Would this be a candidate for a SS build?  I only have about 3 CX races within driving distance, and would like to use if for commuting also. Any thoughts on this? Or would I be better off buying an El Cheapo Motobecane Phantom Uno from bikesdirect?

All City will be at the Frostbike tradeshow .  Rumor has it that All City will debut a Columbus Zona tubing version of their popular Nature Boy around Feb 20th.  Stay tuned:)

I converted my aluminum Primus Mootry 'cross bike to a single speed using the Eno hub after re-powdercoating in a new color, blue (previously black). 17 lbs with pedals. Rode it to victory in a geared cat in the early 2010 season.

and here's a link to the Vicious site with a picture of the frame.  The paint job took an enormous amount of time, they only did it once

you bet.    This past fall I resurrected my vintage Vicious Cycles cross frame.  Mavic SUP 32 spoke rims.   Chris King front hub.   White Industries ENO rear hub (frame has vertical dropouts) and White Ind. freewheel.  Ultegra 175 cranks & external BB.  It is a sweet ride

Does anyone have a 'relatively recent' ss cx build they'd like to share?  The office is too quiet today and I need ideas! especially since bonus time is coming end of March...;>

What are peoples thoughts on Chris king , or Phil wood style hubs vs the Shimano thread on type. I have the Shimano version currently and don't care for it much. I have found it does work, is fine for commuting to work on, but skips and makes awful noises when giving it a serious workout.

$20 shimano should work well until it gets tired from usage. If you have the cash go for the white industries.
