I have a set of perfect condition Bontrager Aeolus 65s that I no longer use for road racing and recently mounted them to some Fango 34s. The wheels are very tough but the design (carbon faring mounted to a XXX carbon rim) has me a bit concerned. Anyone have any experience racing these in cross?

Kind of related- we get a lot of questions about the durability of our carbon tubulars for 'cross. This season we rented out American Classics and Shimano DuraAce wheels and didn't have a problem with any of them in cross. We did have a few broken during the road season by going over and through potholes, but in 'cross they never gave us (or our customers) any problems.

So, since your rim is a HED rim, I would say its going to be fine. Unless you are the most un-graceful rider ever and beeline for direct impacts on rocks, roots and curbs, you should be ok.
Thanks this is very helpful. See you at the races.
